Hi,

These are the few features that I would really like to see added if at all possible please:

  • Ability to change the imprint depth of the inner-most wall, and the remainder of the imprints to be a different depth.
  • Removal of the imprint outline on the inside of the cutter (when delete outer edge is selected it distorts the image and the outline creates an imprint in the clay)
  • Offset of centre bars
  • Ability to create texture rollers

These are some great ideas.

Regarding your second point about the “Removal of the imprint outline on the inside of the cutter”: would you be willing to share a cutter (you can copy the url from the url bar, it will keep all the settings intact) that shows this effect?

It can be any sample cutter, doesn’t need to be anything professional. Just so that I can reproduce the bug.

I’ll try my best to fix this ASAP.

You will see there is an imprint line that matches the outer wall which leaves a mark in the clay - if I click ‘delete outer edge’ this removes the line, however it changes the shape and size of the label and honey drips (I hope this makes sense :smile: ), please let mw know if you need me to share any further examples or explain better.

I understand the problem. It’s a bit of a fundamental issue to solve though.

The approach we use now in Cookiecad Designer to remove the outer imprint edge inherently modifies the outer cutter shape. (It is offset inwards.)

This is why the dripping honey shape looks differently when you enable the setting.

There are alternative approaches, which are possible, but will modify the “holes” of the shape, i.e.: the imprint pattern, but will leave the outer shape exactly as original.

I guess different types of cutters have different use cases. In your case it would definitely be better to keep the outer shape intact, and modify the holes instead.

I experimented with some alternative algorithms today. I think it should be possible to do this. But this will be for an upcoming version of Cookiecad Designer, and will be an experimental setting.

That’s great, thank you, yes I understand it’s a bit of a challenging one, it’s like the outer edge needs to somehow be separated from the imprint once it’s been traced, your suggestion regarding altering the holes sounds good, look forward to seeing the experimental option.

Did you get chance to look into being able to vary the heights of an imprint and texture rollers or are these in the pipeline for future updates too?
